SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 29

Requesting that the Joint Committee on Government and Finance
make a study of the development of a convention center in
Flatwoods, Braxton County, on property to be donated.
Whereas, Flatwoods is the geographic center of the state.
A convention center situated in that area could, therefore,
provide service to a wide range of locations; and
Whereas, If such property were to be donated, the
development of a convention center would promote economic
development and growth in Flatwoods and surrounding counties;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to review, examine and study the development of a
convention center on donated property in Flatwoods, Braxton
County and to make recommendations to the Legislature regarding
the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2000,
on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its
recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint
Committee on Government and Finance.
